Watchdog is
a device connected to a computer that controls the functioning
of programmes. When the system is not functioning Watchdog restarts
the computer. This is done in the same manner as if the user
had pressed the reset button. The device can control the functioning
of up to four programmes. It also has two connectors for alarms.
Example of such an alarm is when we want to prevent unauthorised
access to computer's hardware. On computer's casing we mount
a switch and when someone opens casing the switch connects and
turns on the alarm.
